Holo 2012!

This Giveaway is now CLOSED!  Thanks for entering!

Happy 2012!  I hope everyone had a great December and are having a great new year!  I have decided to start Nail'd & Polish'd, 2012, out with a giveaway.  A holo giveaway!  I have 3 hard to find, brand new China Glaze holographic beauties to give away to one very lucky winner.  L8R G8R, FYI, and Wireless Holographic Top Coat.  I have been holding on to these for a few months after scoring them at a local beauty supply and it is time to pass them along to one of my fellow polish lovers.

There isn't a whole lot I can say to describe these polishes, except they are amazing!  China Glaze knows how to do holographic and with any luck, they will do it again someday.
L8R G8R is a lime green holo.

FYI is a taupe holo.

Wireless Holographic Top Coat is just that, a holo top coat with endless holographic possibilities.

I am going to make this giveaway nice and easy.
Here are the rules:
1. You must be a follower! Please follow through Google Friend Connect-this is the only way I know how to see that you are following me.

2. Leave one comment on this post with your name and email address.
3. This giveaway is opened to all followers of Nail'd & Polish'd, even International followers!

4. The giveaway is open now (1/12/2012) and ends on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at 9pm, PST. The lucky winner will be posted Friday, January 20, 2012! The winner will be chosen through random.org. You will have 48 hours to respond to my email, otherwise I will select another winner.

China Glaze~Metro Collection

The Fall 2011 collections have been out since summer and I figured it was about time I get these up!  The Metro Collection by China Glaze is a 12 piece collection ranging from shimmers, to glitters, to cremes.  I have 3 of the polishes from this collection, two glitters and a to die for creme!

Skyscraper is a blueberry base with silver glitter.  In the bottle, this color pulls more purple, so I was a little surprised when I applied and it was blue.

Midtown Magic, how do I describe this one?  Bare with me-It is a brown/burgundy base with gold, brown, & I think I see green micro glitter.  I can't tell if this has a duo chrome to it or if it has a slight holographic to it.  It is a really cool and trippy color.  And it is gorgeous!

Concrete Catwalk is they grey creme I have been searching for!  It's more of a blue-ish grey, but I just love it!

What do you all think about this collection?  Is it a hit or a miss?

China Glaze~Haunting Collection

Well, it's getting to be that time of year again-Halloween!  I have the first Halloween themed collection that I have been able to find.  For some reason all the stores around me are taking their time getting all the Halloween goodies out and on the shelves.  China Glaze never really fails in the Halloween collections.  Year after year they release great colors and this year is no different.  I have heard a few mixed reviews on the is collection, but I think it's beautiful and eerie, just how Halloween should be!  The Haunting Collection is 6 polishes, Ghoulish Glow & Black Mesh (Crackle) are re-promotes.

It's Alive is a dense dark lime green glitter.  This is 2 coats, but I really could have used just one.

Haunting is a black creme base with silver glitter.

Near Dark is a dark, almost black, murky moss green.  I really like this color.  I think it's just gorgeous.

Crimson is a beautiful vampy blackened berry creme.  You know I love this color!

China Glaze~Haunting Collection is in out.  I saw it yesterday at Sally's.  Grab it while you can!  Thanks for looking!

Hard To Find Friday

Happy Friday and welcome to my new idea to change things up a bit here on Nail'd & Polish'd.  Have you ever seen the the letters HTF?  Well, in the nail polish world they stand for Hard To Find.  I thought I would start a once-in-awhile Friday post called Hard To Find Friday and share all my nail polish treasures.  This won't be a weekly thing since I don't have that many.  But hopefully I can get some of my fellow bloggers to help me out.  I thought this might be a good resource in case you are ever out shopping and come across a HTF.  First up my small China Glaze OMG collection!

In 2008 China Glaze released one their most coveted collections called the OMG! collection.  12 stunning holos with cute little names like QT, L8R G8R, & OMG.  China Glaze can do holographic colors.  Don't let the Tronica collection fool you, take a look at these.

Patriotic Manicure

Happy day after the 4th of July!  Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend.  I did a red, white, & blue paint job on Sunday and thought I would share.  I am not the person who does her nails for this holiday and infact, usually the only holiday I really get into is Halloween, so this is really out of the box for me.  I used Zoya~Sookie for the red & Nubar~Navy Blue for the blue.  The white is China Glaze Crackle in Lightning Bolt.  Then I added a coat of China Glaze~Pixie Dust, & toppped it with a top coat.  Before you look at the pictures, I just want to remind you to enter my Summer Give Away!  Check it out and enter here

I have to be honest, this is so not me!  I think it looks pretty good and maybe if it were a different set of colors I would have liked it better.  My kids loved it and Some times, that is enough!

China Glaze~Anchors Away

The Anchors Away collection from China Glaze was one of the most talked about collections last summer and fall.  Everyday for months people where talking about it on twitter and other blogs.  I was so excited for the collection to come out and when it finally did, I had the hardest time finding it!  It seemed like it was launched one day and gone the next.  Neither one of my Sally's even got it in.  However, I was lucky enough to find two polishes from this collection.

Sea Spray is a pale grey-baby blue micro shimmer or semi-pearl.

First Mate is a gorgeous dusty dark blue creme.  I was really happy that I found this one.

How lucky where you guys in your Anchors Away hunt?

China Glaze~ High Def & Gamer Glam

Happy last Monday of March 2011!  Hope everyone had a great weekend.  Mine was alright.  I got some really bad new on Friday.  My good friend was hit Thursday night by a drunk driver.  He was on his motorcycle and hurt really bad.  So I am a bit of an emotional mess.  But he has a lot of people who love him and are praying and sending good thoughts and energy to him.  So, my tip for the day is be careful out there and please don't drink & drive.

Today I have 2 China Glaze polishes for you.  These are from their Tronica Collection that recently came out.  I know a lot of people are having a hard time finding this collection.  You can try checking at Sally's.  My Sally's doesn't have them, but I have heard they are out there.  I found mine at Cosmoprof.

High Def is a medium blue holographic polish.  The holographic finish is more subtle than I hoped for, but it's beautiful!

Gamer Glam is a gorgeous purple holo.

China Glaze~Awakening Collection

Halloween is quickly approaching.  My kids have decided what they want to be and now it's my turn to make their ideas reality.  I love Halloween and I am really getting excited!

China Glaze is ready for Halloween with their great Awakening collection of 3 Halloween colors.  Zombie Zest, Ick-A-Bod-Y, & Mummy May I are 3 festive and glitter packed pretties!

Zombie Zest is a sheer olive green polish packed with light and dark green glitter and I see gold glitter too.  I really thought I would hate this color(I'm sure you have heard me go on and on about my love/hate for green polish) but not Zombie Zest-I really like it!

Ick-A-Bod-Y is a sheer black polish with gorgeous orange glitter.  This polish screams Halloween to me!

Mummy May I is a pretty dark purple polish with a great shade of purple glitter.  The color of the glitter is a grape-ish purple and it pops off of the darker base.  It's purple, it's dark, of course it's my favorite of the trio.

My set came with the CG FastForward Top Coat and I am really excited to try it.  I don't know why I never picked it up before.  I'll let you know what I think soon!

Two Hard to Finds

These are two HTF(Hard to Find) polishes that shouldn't be htf!  I found China Glaze~Metropolitan and OPI~Have You Seen My Limo last week when I ran into the beauty supply to get some remover.  Of course I also came out with 4 polishes.  Both of these are discontinued, but there might be a few lurking around here and there.

China Glaze~Metropolitan is from the 2005 Urban Chic Collection.  It is a beautiful burgundy with gold, silver, and red micro glitter.

OPI~Have You Seen My Limo is from the 2007 Holiday in Hollywood Collection.  This polish is a slight duochome.  It is a brownish purple base with a green sheen to it.  It also has green, plum, and brown micro glitter.  Have You Seen My Limo is amazing and I can't believe it isn't part of their permanent line.

Lace Nails

Remember a couple of months ago when lace nails were all the rage?  Well, I got all of the stuff to do them and this is how they turned out!

I used black lace from the fabric store and China Glaze~Something Sweet.  I love the way the lace looks.  I think it is pretty and girly and naughty all at the same time.  I love pink and black together and I think this turned out really pretty.  However, as much as I love the way it looks, I probably will never do this again.  It took forever to cut out the lace so that it would fit each nail just so.  Plus, since I used gel as my top coat, I couldn't stand the way it made my nails feel.  It also made for some very thick nails.
Here is my step by step to lace nails:
1.  Cut lace to the shape of your nail.
2.  Paint nails and let them dry completely.
3.  Using a brush on glue, brush the glue on top of the painted nail.  I did one nail at a time.
4.  Place the lace over the nail.
5.  Brush one more coat of glue over the lace and press down where the lace may be lifting.  I usd an orangewood stick to press the lifting spots.  Be careful not glue the orangewood stick to your nail!
6.  One you have glued the lace down, seal it.  I used gel(2 coats) and a UV light.  I don't know how well it would turn out with just top coat.

Next time, I'll try my Konad plate M71, M39, or M70.
What do you guys think?

China Glaze~Vintage Vixen

Here are the last three Vintage Vixens: Emerald Fitzgerald, Goin' My Way, & Jitterbug.  Thank you China Glaze for a beautiful fall collection!  These beauties will be available within the next couple of weeks and your favorite China Glaze hot spot.

Emerald Fitzgerald is going to make the green polish lovers very happy.  It is a beautiful dark teal green with teal and silver micro glitter.

Goin's My Way screams fall to me.  It is the perfect brown with golden copper shimmer.

Jitterbug is a great gunmetal grey with silver sparkle.

Thank you China Glaze for sending these polishes to me for review.  I love them and them all are beautiful fall beauties!

China Glaze~Vintage Vixen

Today I have Riveter Rouge, Midnight Mission, and Bogie from China Glaze's Vintage Vixen Collection.

Riveter Rouge is a gorgeous dark red shimmer with a pinch of gold glitter.  You can see the sporadic gold specks in the bottle better than on your nails, but this polish is absolutley gorgeous!

Midnight Mission is blue!  I love blue polish and this one is amazing!  It is a cool blue base with silver and blue micro glitter.

Bogie is a rich plum shimmer.  It is so pretty!

China Glaze~Vintage Vixen

Today I have Hey Doll, Swing Baby, and Classic Camel for the China Glaze Vintage Vixen Collection.  This collection will be avaiable mid to late July at your favorite CG retailer.

Hey Doll is the pink lady of the bunch.  It's more of a dusty rose shimmer than pink.

Swing Baby is a sparkly taupe.  It is super sparkly!

Classic Camel has not been my friend.  My bottle is clumpy and thick.  I put thinner in and it still just did not apply well.  But, you can see the color and thats the main thing.  It is a true camel color with fine gold micro glitter.

**These polishes were sent to me for review**

China Glaze~Vintage Vixen

Vintage Vixen is everywhere!  Even here!  As I am sure most of you know, Vintage Vixen is China Glaze's Fall 2010 Collection.  When I first heard about this collection, I knew it was one I would love.  Old Hollywood, rich, dark polish colors-two of my favorite things.  Vintage Vixen does not disappoint.  All 12 of these polishes have a shimmery, sparkly finish to them.  There is something for everyone and I think even the die-hard creme only polish lovers will even find a polish or two they can't live without.  The Vintage Vixen Collection will be available mid to late July at your favorite China Glaze retailer.

Today I have First Class Ticket, Ingrid, & Foxy.
First Class Ticket is a beautiful purple shimmer with a dusting of turquoise micro glitter.

Ingrid is a dark taupe with hint of gold micro glitter.

Foxy is a stunning color.  The bottle does not do it justice.  It is a burgundy shimmer with a light coppery sheen to it.  The cool base and warm sparkle bounce off each other, creating an amazing color!

These polishes were sent to me for review.

China Glaze~Hawaiian Punch

Hello fellow polish lovers!  Today I have Hawaiin Punch by China Glaze.  This is a fun, summery color that I picked up at Sally's recently.  It is a pretty, reddish coral with a wash of irredescence.

China Glaze~Blue Sparrow

Blue Sparrow by China Glaze is a beautiful blue with fine blue glitter.

And now for a Monday morning history lesson...

Traditional tattoos are my favorite style of tattoos. I love the thick lines, bold colors and the meaning behind the different symbols associated with traditional tattoos. Sparrows are one of my favorite tattoo designs. I have 2 of them on my back and I am sure I will get another at some point. The meaning behind the sparrow symbol is really sweet and cool, also. My favorite tale of the sparrow is that sparrows only fall in love once and they are with that love for life.
