Polish Donations

Today I got a phone call from my mom, who works at a nursing home, and she asked if I had any extra nail polish.   I asked her why and she went on to tell me that the nursing home that she works at is in need of nail polish.  Every week they do manicures for the residents and believe me they LOVE their nails painted.  I used to work in a facility several years ago and that was my favorite part of my job.  Aparently, my mom walked by the 'manicure room' and noticed the 5, yes 5 old, gooey, and just need-to-be-tossed bottles of nail polish.
So, I was thinking that if anyone had one bottle of polish that they don't want and wouldn't mind sending it to me, I would put together a basket for this nursing home!  And if I get too many polishes, I have another place I can donate too.  My Aunt works for a receiving home for kids who are removed from thier home due to violence, neglect, drug abuse, etc.
If you are interested, send me an email! polishdcindy(at)live(dot)com

This is a fantastic post. I don't have many polishes, but I know my mom has some she never uses. When I bring my daughter over there this weekend I'll see if I can snag a couple to donate.

Before my grandmother died I painted her toenails for her. She had always hated her feet, but my mom told me in the hospital while she was dying she was showing everyone her feet and beaming. Little things like that really make people feel good, even in the worst of times.

just wondering.. are there color restrictions? i wouldn't imagine an old lady would want green nail polish, so maybe people should just send natural, pinks, and reds?

Great cause! I can sympathize with people who appreciate being taken care of this way. Shipping is quite expensive from where I live but I am sure others will make an effort.

Another blogger just blogged about how she wanted to donate some of her polish, this would be perfect for her.

Hopefully she will see this post :)

Thanks guys! I think that any color is fine. I don't hink matte or suede finishes would go over too well, but colors are fine! Manicures give them a sense of still being girly and a woman. Not the person in room 2A.
